Dr. Charla Lewis

Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dr. Charla Lewis serves as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, where she provides strategic leadership for academic programs, faculty development, and student success initiatives. With over two decades of experience in education and over a decade of service to OPSU, Dr. Lewis plays a key role in overseeing curriculum development, program review, accreditation, and academic policy implementation.

She has led efforts to expand online offerings, implement faculty onboarding and training, and create academic structures that support retention and degree completion. Under her leadership, OPSU has secured approval for new programs and delivery modes through the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, strengthened assessment and reporting processes, and launched micro-credential pathways in high-demand fields.

In her previous roles at OPSU, Dr. Lewis served as Dean of the College of Arts and Education, Director of Teacher Education, and Director of Music Education. Her work in these areas has emphasized faculty collaboration, data-informed decision making, and alignment with state and national standards.

Dr. Lewis holds a Doctorate in Education in Higher Education Administration from Bradley University, a Master of Music Education from Emporia State University, and a Bachelor of Music Education from OPSU. A proud Panhandle State alumna, she remains deeply committed to serving the university’s mission and advancing academic excellence across campus.
