Job Summary
The Residence Manager (RM) is expected to have a vital interest and significant involvement in student life and development at OPSU. The RM will uphold OPSU’s standards, policies, and traditions while maintaining a professional attitude and workstyle that benefits the mission of OPSU.
Responsibilities
- Promote student safety by enforcing college policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular office hours to aid students.
- Assist residents in adjustment to college and resident life by building positive relationships.
- Keep accurate reports of student activity including lockouts, key replacements, maintenance needs, incident reports, safety checks, etc. and submit them to the Housing Coordinator daily.
- Serve as a positive influence and role model in students’ lives to provide guidance and advice.
- Mediate roommate and other resident conflicts and handle minor infractions.
- Accommodate guests in the residence halls according to established school policy.
- Assist in the “check-in” and “check-out” processes of the residence hall.
- Inform the Housing Coordinator of chronic difficulties with students and facilities.
- Participate in the office and residential facility general upkeep as needed.
- Cooperate and communicate with the Housing Coordinator, Campus Police and Security staff, and Facilities, and attend all meetings/trainings as needed.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsibly.
- The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.
- Support departmental programs including meetings, training, program reviews, etc.
- Strong organizational, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary
- Strong communication skills demonstrate the candidate to be a positive motivator.
- Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects, frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
- Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
- Other duties as assigned by the Housing Coordinator or his/her designee.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Demonstrated assertive leadership balanced with empathy and kindness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and at least one enterprise system (housing management, door access, or package tracking); ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Exceptional administrative accuracy, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Previous work experience with young adults preferred
