Job Summary
Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment and assists in repairing machinery, plumbing, physical structures and fixtures.
Responsibilities
- Bends and cuts conduit, cuts wires and drills holes in wall, floors or ceilings for electrical connection.
- Connects wires to motors, fixtures and other electrical equipment, replaces switches and fuses, and splices wires and insulates wires with friction tape, if not required by a certified electrician.
- Bends, cuts and threads pipe, cuts opening in walls, ceiling and floors for pipes and seals pipe joints.
- Dismantles machine or equipment, replaces defective parts and motors and adjusts feed mechanisms.
- Performs routine maintenance on machines, such as cleaning and lubricating shafts, pulleys, gear and bearings, using rags, brushes, grease gun and oil can.
- Cuts out and joins parts for worktables, benches, shelves and other furnishings, using hand-tools and materials, such as saws, hammers, nails and screws.
- Paints walls, ceilings or fixtures of building. Prepares surfaces for painting and pre-masking of paint areas.
- Replaces filters and belts in building equipment rooms.
- May perform a variety of other duties to include moving of furniture, material, and equipment.
- Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
- Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
- Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
- Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
- Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
- Other duties as assigned by Vice President of Fiscal Affairs or his/her designee.
Qualifications
- Ability to understand the following directions as given.
- Two years maintenance experience.
- Must have current Oklahoma State driver’s license.
- Ability to read labels and instruction for proper use of chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to use a variety of hand power tools.
- The ability to lift 60 pounds, ability to work from ladders or raised platforms.
- Experience preferred.
