OPSU Alumnus and Hall of Fame Inductee Murry Gloude to Deliver Commencement Address

Goodwell, Okla.— Oklahoma Panhandle State University is proud to announce Murry Gloude as the 2024 Commencement Speaker. A respected community leader, business owner, and proud Aggie alumnus, Gloude will address graduating students during the university’s commencement ceremony on May 9, 2025.

Murry Gloude played football for the Aggies from 1989 to 1992 and graduated in the spring of 1993. Known as one of the most formidable strong safeties in program history, Gloude left a lasting legacy on the field. His outstanding athletic achievements were recently recognized when he was inducted into the 2024 OPSU Hall of Fame.

Following graduation, Gloude built a 30-year career at Panhandle Telephone Cooperative, Inc. in Guymon, Oklahoma, serving as Construction Administrator. In that role, he oversaw and helped construct vital fiber optic networks throughout the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles, significantly contributing to the region’s technological infrastructure.

In addition to his work in telecommunications, Gloude is the owner and operator of Quality Carpet Care, a successful flood remediation and carpet cleaning business he has led for the past 17 years.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gloude is deeply committed to his community. He served for 12 years on the Goodwell Public Schools Board of Education and spent many seasons coaching youth sports through KIDS, Inc., creating cherished memories with his children, Alexis and Derrick. He has also been an active supporter of the Goodwell Booster Club.

“Murry’s story is a true reflection of the Aggie spirit, showcasing resilience, hard work, and a deep connection to the community,” said OPSU President Dr. Julie Dinger. “We are honored to welcome him back to campus as our 2025 Commencement Speaker.”

Gloude enjoys spending time with his family, especially his two grandsons, and can often be found on the golf course in his spare time.

His address is sure to inspire the Class of 2025 with a message grounded in perseverance, service, and Panhandle pride.
