OPSU Hosts First Continuing Professional Education Welding Workshop for Agricultural Educators

Goodwell, Okla.The College of Business and Technology at Oklahoma Panhandle State University proudly hosted its inaugural Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Workshop in Welding, offering agricultural educators from across the region a valuable opportunity to enhance their technical expertise and teaching practices.


The hands-on workshop focused on foundational and advanced techniques in Arc Welding, MIG Welding, and Oxy/Acetylene Welding. Designed specifically for agricultural teachers, the training emphasized skill development and effective instructional strategies to help educators bring these essential skills into their classrooms with confidence.


The session was led by Mr. Jeffrey Cramer, Instructor of Industrial Technology at OPSU, whose practical experience and dedication to workforce education ensured a productive and engaging environment for all participants.


Vickie Pasque, Dean of the College of Business and Technology, highlighted the importance of professional learning opportunities like this one. “At OPSU, we are committed to supporting both current educators and future industry leaders. This workshop exemplifies how we can extend our expertise beyond campus and help equip teachers with the skills and strategies needed to enhance their classrooms.”


Dr. Charla Lewis, OPSU Vice President of Academic Affairs, echoed the significance of the initiative. “By investing in our region’s educators, we’re investing in the future of rural education and workforce readiness. Workshops like this one reinforce our university’s role as a partner in lifelong learning and community development.”


This CPE initiative marks a meaningful step in OPSU’s ongoing mission to support regional educators and strengthen career-readiness pathways across the Oklahoma Panhandle. Plans are already underway for future workshops, building on the success of this first session.
